A love affair that started in a bus and ended in murder took place in Lakkhavatgi of Tikota taluk.
While the student committed suicide because her father saw her alone with her lover, the girl's father killed her lover for causing her daughter's death. Sec. This incident took place on 22nd and now it has come to light.
Incident –
Mallikarjuna (20) of Ghonasagi of Tikota taluk, who was studying in his final year of graduation, and Arapta of Kalkhakawatagi village, who was studying in his first year of graduation, fell in love with each other.
Both of them used to come to the college in Vijayapura in the same bus. Being from neighboring towns, both of them met on the bus and fell in love. They were in love with each other for the past one year. But when the matter of young lovers was known in both the houses, a panchayat was held and wisdom was said.
However, the girl who had called on the night of September 22 had invited Mallu to her house. There were two people in a shed in the village farm. Hearing his whispers, the girl's family put the boy in a shed to teach him wisdom.
Aggrieved by this, the young woman committed suicide on the spot by consuming poison. Distraught over the death of his daughter, the minor's father tied the youth's hands and feet, forced him to drink poison and killed him. Along with some others, they put the dead bodies of the two in a jeep and threw them into the Krishna river near Korti-Kolhara in Balakot district's Balagi police station and destroyed the evidence, it has been revealed in the police's preliminary investigation.
He had filed a complaint at Tikota police station that his daughter had been abducted. On the other hand, as there was no trace of the youth, his family had complained that he was missing.
Based on the complaint, the police launched an investigation and found the dead body of the missing youth in Belagi police station. The youth's parents have identified the body found on the banks of the Krishna river as that of their son.
Based on this, the Baragi police arrested the minor's father Gurappa and his relative Ajith and interrogated them.
